EmailsApril 27th 2001
Added another 2 emails to the list...Thanks Wokka.

Ximian HellApril 27th 2001
Ok, I decided to download the brand new Ximian code three days ago. I had really good luck with the last version they used, so I thought this would be a snap. Plus the new code contains Nautilus and GNUCash...two apps that given me nothing but grief. So, I run the the web script that installs all the packages, and it runs SLOW. Well, it was the first day of release... makes sense. So I leave the computer alone overnight. Get ups the next morning, and find the download stalled out sometime. So restart, go to work. Get home and find it stalled on the Nautilus rpm. Restart it, can't find the rpm. Foo. Do this a few more times, then give up due to exhaustion. Get up yesterday, restart the download...go to work. Get home last night, it's stalled again...restart one more time...and it gets everything, installs everything...cool. Try to start Nautilus, it fails due to a 'Oak error', whatever the hell that is. Tinker with it a bit, move on the Gnucash...it fails due to a lib that may or may not be installed, or not linked, or something. Also, the install seemed to have broken e-sound. So I curse a bit, and give up and go to bed. The moral of this story ? Not much of one. Ximian is usually good code, and since my libs are famed for being screwy on Kitsune it may be my fault. So, I'll tinker with it tonight...see how badly I fscked things up. So more later...*laugh*

HypernetApril 26th 2001
Well, I've been working for the last few days here at Hypernet. It's been fun. The hour long commute from home to work and back again isn't fun though. But it gives me plenty of thinking time ;) So far I've been doing alot of research, learning how the servers are setup and doing some basic tech support to get my mind back in gear. I've been having fun with it actually. I'll be doing more dedicated DSL stuff in the near future, then doing installs in the slightly less near future. Unless plans change...the great thing of working for an ISP...plans change. Keeps me on my toes. :) Btw, if I sound like I'm babbling, that's due to the utter lack of sleep I've gotten this week. I don't deal with being up at 7am well. Also, speaking of work, look over at the menu bar. See the link for Foxcam (work) ? Well, if you want to see hwere I work, go check it out. My cube is the far one, furthest away from the camera. You may see me looking for soda.

ToysApril 26th 2001
Well, this last weekend I went to my local Fry's and picked up a few toys for myself. Specifically I purchased a copy of the Sims and a DVD by Troma, called Hellblock 13. Hellblock 13 is a very weird movie, kinda like the Creepshow movie from years back, 3 unrelated horror stories being told by a imprisoned serial murderess (played very well by Debbie Rochon, of American Nightmare fame) to her executioner (also played well by Gunnar Hanson (Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre). The stories are fairly plot free, but fun. I give it 3 1/2 severed heads. ;)

On to the Sims, another story of terror. ;) I started playing this on Saturday night, and I see why it's addictive. I thought I'd be fairly disappointed with it. Nope, it's got me hooked. Especially when I gave up on traditional roles, and setup a nice little menage a four (sorry, my french sucks). Three sims with jobs, one as slave labor keeping the house clean. :) *laugh* Hmm, I wonder if they'll have dominatrix as a job in one of the future Sims packs.

Tempest AlbumApril 26th 2001
Hurrah !!! Yesterday I was able to get Tempest's new album, Balance. *grin* It rocks. To quote an email I sent today...
"So far I've played it about 3 times, including once over at Wokka's while geeking :) Very nice, very very nice. Go out, buy it. Buy several copies. Listen to it over and over again. Spray paint 'Lief is god' on overpasses. Ok, that may be a bit much...nah....do it :)"

What can i say...I'm a fan(atic) :)

Job NewsApril 17th 2001
Well, we have new news on the job front. I have accepted a position with a local ISP, called Hypernet Communications . I'll be working as a install agent for telco and data equipment. So I'll be going out to customers sites and installing the network router, setting up their network, and other assorted stuff. Ok, it's not sys- admining...but it still sounds good. A hell of alot better than tech support or doing some mundane job. Plus variety and learning stuff I don't know. Special thanks to Jesslla for the lead. She works there as well...should be fun :)

Site Fixes and Fun stuffApril 15th 2001
Well, I made some changes to the site. Nothing major, just updated my personal info page, updated a few things that I broke last time, and a general fix of things. Like updating the copyright, so it no longer says 1999 only. The Bio page is not done, I got tired of trying to be witty and remembering my past. So I'll work on it more later. Hey, I gotta do something fun while being sick.

Scarborough FaireApril 15th 2001
Well, against good judgement, I went to the opening day of Scarborough Faire yesterday. I had a good time, even if I was too poor to afford anything. Hung out with a pack of Ufies. Saw a lot of cool stuff, and pretty ladies. Always the best part of RenFaires, the pretty ladies. On the down side, I lost my voice while out there...and it still hasn't come back yet. Oh well. One of the Ufies got a few pics, take a look here. I'm planning on going back, maybe I'll even drag out the garb for it. Been a while since I went in garb. *ponder*

Friday the 13thApril 13th 2001
Happy Unlucky day. :) So far, it's been fairly bleah for me. I'm still sick. I still have a headache from hell. I still don't like my job. Well, to be honest, I haven't been there all week but monday. So I shouldn't complain, but I will. I'm not a fan of call centers, what can I say. Oh well. On the plus side today, I got Fennec back up and running. A few modifications, which should show up on the Network page. Hurrah for Mp3/Multimedia/File servers. First computer project I've had work right off, without major hiccups. Well, once I found the bad RAM and replaced it. Oh well, it's good. So far my mp3 count is 55 gigs. That should scare people...ALOT. *grin* Need more though, much more *evil laugh*

No news is...well no newsApril 11th 2001
Not much new going on. My new Tech Support job sucks. It's a call center, about all I can say about it. Real meat grinder. Played hooky today and yesterday, yesterday to interview with an ISP down in Cleburne. (A long drive away). It's for a sysadmin/network admin position, which is just up my alley. It's a Linux shop, so I think I'd fit in well. I should know something shortly. As for today, I feel like hell. Cold type bug. Not fun. *cough* *wheeze* Lets see, what else is new...not a whole lot. Got a new screenshot up, here. Nothing too new, fun with xine. Looking at Moshe Bar's website. Now this is a scary ubergeek. Has more computers than god, and gets to code the fun stuff. Clusters, high avail servers, the nifty stuff.

April Fools DayApril 1st 2001
Happy wacky day all. Not much new in news. I'm starting training for my new job tomorrow. Tech support for DSL users...this should be about as hard as sleeping. Hmm, bad analogy...since I have insomnia. Now to just somehow arrange to get a decent shift, so I can job hunt and still have something like a social life. Or somehow convince them that I need a lot more cash, and get them to give it to me. I have needs man...*laugh* Like a new cd burner, since mine is starting to throw more coasters than anything else. I also need a new monitor or 3, preferably 21" monitors. I'm not greedy...well not much. I also want to add to my DVD collection, get a working printer, hell..I need a new chair, this one is about to fall apart on me. :( Oh well. Maybe sometime soon I'll be able to afford what I want/need. *crosses fingers. Hmm, on the movie side, saw Exit Wounds tonight. Classic Steven Segal flick. Lots of kicking and bunching and other martial arts foo. I liked it. Then again, I like Segal flicks.
