Weekend Report Sun Apr 25 20:17:51 CDT 2004
Mood: Good Music of the Day: Kiss of the Dragon on TV
Well, I've had a pretty busy weekend. Friday night after not enough sleep, I went with a few D/FW Ufies to dinner. While we dined, I got talked into going to see 13 Going on 30. Not sure how I got talked into this, definitely not my type of movie. It was funny and cute, definitely a chick flick. I will say, Jennifer Garner can do comedy just as well as she can do asskicking. I can't really recommend it, unless you like sappy comedy types.

Saturday dawned way to damn early, my sleep schedual has been very borked. Hung out with some friends, had chinese food for lunch, helped Grim Squeaker work on his car, then over to Amythest and Nymaz's for gaming. Boardgaming. Started with Risk, where I got my butt kicked from here to Toledo. Then we played Star Munchkin, where again I got my butt kicked. Came home, crashed out.

Sunday also dawned way early, had really bad nightmares so waking up wasn't so bad. Headed over to Squeaker's to head down to Scarbourough Faire. Another rainy day, with a lot of mudslogging. Had fun though, enjoyed browsing though the shops. Again, wish I had cash so I could afford the neat things I want. But I was good. I spent enough money yesterday. I was bad, I went and picked up a little friend... Secret Agent Skippy. *grin* But it's all good. Everyone needs Plush Elder Gods working for the NSA. Or is it CIA ?

Right now I'm watching TV and waiting on Chinese food to showup. From there I'm going to watch my copy of Master and Commander and do laundry, and in general try to stay awake til all hours of the night, and tomorrow will be a new work week. Hopefully a nicely calm and dull work week.

Mood: Amused Music of the Day: Lacuna Coil - Stars
My mom called me today with a emergency. Nothing health related, thank $DEITY. But somehow she broke her TV. And since my mom is about as close to a Luddite as you can find these days, that's about all I can get out of her. A cable is missing, or unplugged, or something. So I pack up a few tools and head over to her place. Ok, TV works but gives a static picture. So I check the rabbit ears, yep. Unplugged. Check the connections, note the bent wire. Use my handy microleatherman to fix, then connect. Use duct tape to make sure this puppy won't unplug. Hurrah, we have Fraiser on TV. Mom is happy, I feel like the good son for fixing it. Then she mentions her other TV has no sound. Check it, it's missing the volume up button and she can't trip the little target button behind where the normal button should be. Mr Leatherman to the rescue again. Show her exactly where to press to get the volume to go up using a pair of tweezers. This weekend I'm going to see if I can juryrig something a little less kludgy than the tweezers.

And I want to build my darling mom a computer...I must be insane.

Weekend Movies Tue Apr 20 04:55:05 CDT 2004
Mood: ok Music of the Day: Nightwish - Over The Hills and Far Away
Well, I got to see two movies this weekend. Woohoo for me.

#1 was The Whole Ten Yards. This was fun, very lighthearted and slapstick comedy sequel. I was laughing though most of the movie, and just about loosing it at some scenes. Kevin Pollak stole the show. Definitely a movie to see if you like comedy.

#2 was Kill Bill, Vol 2. I have mixed opinions on this one, I thought it dragged in spots, compaired to the first one. But when it was good, it was very good. Especially where the Bride meets up with her Kung Fu master. A great parody of the Shaw brothers films I watched growing up. The first Kill Bill was better, but this wasn't bad. Now, to watch it when I'm not exhausted so I don't doze off during the slow bits.

Finally got around to updating Shub-Internet's website with all the new hardware she's running. Yes, I am that bored.

The fun of upgrades Mon Apr 12 05:35:13 CDT 2004
Mood: Tired Music of the Day: Humming of Elder Gods
I hate working on upgrades, I always seem to take 3 times the expected timeframe when working on Shub. I must learn to offer up virgins first. *thud* Short form, since it is5:30 in the AM, and I've been at this for hours and hours. Shub didn't like SuSE 8.2. Shub didn't like the 30 and 40 gig drives in the same case. Ended up spending a very long time cloning the 30 gig drive into the 40 gig drive, then wrestling with LILO to get the 40 gig to boot. Finally, it is done. Now lets see if Shub is stable. She better be, or else. Or else I'm going insane * cackle* Ok...bedtime.

Fun Weekend Sun Apr 11 19:06:53 CDT 2004
Mood: Good Music of the Day: History Channel on TV: Bible Code II
Well, so far I've had a pretty good weekend. Yesterday I went to Scarby, had a good time save I got very damp. I've been going to this RenFaire for over 13 years, it dawned on me...I'm getting old ;) But I had fun, probably will go back at least once more this season. Probably when it's warmer, and their are more scantly clad wenches around. ;)

From there we went to dinner at Spagetti Warehouse, then off to the movies to see the Alamo. It was very good, had a few historical gaffs that I noticed, but nothing major. Acting was very good, pacing went fairly well I thought. Fast enough to keep your attention, but not so fast to over whelm. Go see it, it's worth it.

Today, I went to lunch with my mom, then off to Half Price books. Got some good books, as well as proof that when it comes to women, I'm clueless. According to my mom, the gal who checked me out was flirting. I didn't notice that, I did notice she was very attactive. But, if she was flirting...I was clueless. So, I must go back and pay a bit better attention. Might be worth it, dating a bookstore clerk might have fringe benefits ;) So I may go in and ask if she can help me find guides to Tantra ;)i

Now I'm at home, I've rebuild Yog-Software and installed Shub-Internet's hard drive in it. Currently I'm on Yog, while Shub is reinstalling with SuSE 8.2 right now. Once it's done, I'll start copying files over the network, and getting programs installed. Should keep me busy for days. Wish me luck.

Hurrah for Weekends Sat Apr 10 07:18:41 CDT 2004
Mood: Good Music of the Day: Buffy the Vampire Slayer on TV
Hurrah for Saturday mornings. Hurrah for days off. Hurrah for Scarbourough Faire. Life is pretty nifty, and I'm good. Going to leave a few minutes for Amythest + Nymaz's, then off to the Rennasance. Not going in garb though (period costumes for the non-rennies), just my usual stuff. I just haven't felt up to getting gussied up for a long time. Maybe later on this year, or next year. We'll see.

After Scarby is dinner and movie plans to see the Alamo. Then home, and probably sleep. I didn't sleep good last night. Nothing bad, but it's hard going from a corpsestealer shift to daywalker. Oh well, I'm good at going without sleep nowadays. Hope everyone has a good day.

Mood: Depressive Music of the Day: Buffy the Vampire Slayer on TV
Well, my good weekend has fallen a tad down. Nothing went wrong, just had a tiring day. Went to some friends' wedding today. Congrats to them, but afterwards I was feeling a little alone. Only fair, relationshipwise I am alone, probably will be for a long time coming. Funny thing is, I more or less accept this fact without much issue. Relationships are hard, and after the last few I don't really want to try again. At least not now. But even with that, I still wish somedays...wish for someone in my life. Someone to be with, the whole good part of being in a relationship. But the tense and stressful parts I don't want to deal with. Frankly, I'm not in a position to be in one. Life is too hectic and stressful. But, some days I wish I could curl up next to someone and not be alone.

On top of being lonely, work looks to be very busy. Busy and tense. Weee. Maybe things will be better this week, or at least less stressful. Must look for positive things, next weekend is the start of Scarborough Faire. Hurrah for wenches in bodices. A bunch of the D/FW Ufies List members will be going, always good to go with the gang. Thank gods for my friends, some days they are the only things keeping me sane.

So that's my next week in a nutshell. My wild life. *tired laugh* Things will get better, hopefully in the near future. Really, it ain't all that bad, but at the wee small hours of the morning it's easy to see everything as doom and gloom. *tries to keep eyes open for the good things*

Hellboy and Happy Birthday Sun Apr 4 03:28:58 CDT 2004
Mood: Good Music of the Day: Buffy the Vampire Slayer on TV
First of all, happy Birthday to Nymaz. Tonight we had his bday party. Scottish theme, with the usual D/FW Ufies List party games. Sheep Herding (with electronic sheep) which was more like Sheep hockey. Then the mini-Caber toss (pencils). Then finally a tug-of-war. This went... less than well. Aka, I got dragged along the ground...another Ufie got dragged further, but he had a nice Vulpine to land on. *ouch* But lucky for me I recovered quickly...just in time to go to see Hellboy.

Now, I loved this movie. It has tentacles, it has demons, it has violence. It has bad jokes aplenty. Lots of Lovecraftian references. I very much enjoyed it, probably will go see it again. Vulpine says, check it out.
