T-Minus 99 hours and counting. Sun Aug 29 16:54:34 CDT 2004
Mood: ok Music of the Day: Predator on TV
Til my vacation starts, approx 99 hours and 5 min from now, I'll be on vacation. Thank $DEITY. I've got a Xdaliclock setup as a countdown clock til I go on vacation. Woo. Had a good weekend, saw Hero on Friday night. I enjoyed it muchly, even if in spots it was kinda confusing, but this was one of the best Jet Li movies I've ever seen. Saturday I went to the Kimbell Art Museum with Amythest and Krzy. Had fun, well at least until the art got to the more modern stuff, which I just don't get. After the museum we hung around and watched TV, then me and Krzy met up with Grim Squeaker, Sugarfae, Techie and Silas for dinner. Went to Don Pablos for dinner, was ok. Somehow me and Squeaker got into an imprompto spelling bee of Cthulhu Mythos names, scary what I can spell... *grin* Then back to Squeaker and Sugarfae's place to watch TV for a while, then I headed home for bed. I haven't been sleeping well much at all.

Today I woke up and got a call from my mom, she was feeling blue and wanted to know if I was busy. So I got dressed and headed over, and we went out for brunch/lunch. Afterwards I drove her to the store so she could pick up some soda, being the good son I carried it out for her...and got complemented on being a good person for carrying things for my mom. I'm fairly sure I blushed. Got mom home and unloaded, and came home. Now I'm reorganizing my apartment after getting my carpets pads replaced Friday, hopefully no more floods anytime soon. The rest of today will be spent very lazy, nothing of any importance to do. Watch movies, read a book, in general have a resting day.

Well, today started off badly. I woke up to my apartment heading to sea. Aka a flood from the bathroom. Water everywhere in the bedroom, bathroom, hall and kitchen. Bad bad bad. Sop up water, call maintainance, get maintainance finally. Eventually the carpet people show up, pull up the carpet and pull the padding, then set giant fans to blowdry everything. So I calm down my critters (who are wigging out), calm myself down and then try to have a good day.

After that, the day went much better. Hung out with Krzy, who is in town and visiting for the week from Kansas. Had lunch, went to the bookstore to return a misbought book, got a different book instead. Came home with a rather upset tummy, to some still upset kitties. Calmed kitties and ferrets, started up laundry so I have clean towels. Now, I'm watching Stargate SG1 and about to make some soup. Then bed. Early bed tonight I think. Fox really needs sleep. Hopefully, I'll get some good sleep and be ready for another busy work week.

Hey all, just wanted to do a update about my fun weekend. Thursday night I did laundry and hung out with a rather neurotic kitty (Cassilda for those not keeping track). Actually, both her and Diamond were a little nuts, but they're settling down. *laugh* At one point the cats had a little Mexican standoff, Diamond made his usual unhappy noise, and Cassilda responded back with a demon growl that would have made Anton Lavey soil himself. *snicker* Needless to say, Diamond took off...I almost ran too. *laugh*

Friday was housework day, then me and the Ufies met up for dinner and a movie, Aliens vs Predator. Hurrah for queso-vision...this movie was cheesy as hell. Especially about half way though the movie or so, it gave up all attempts at being serious. Found out something fun, Predator aliens have a similar "Oh crap" look that humans do. *giggle* Came home after the movie, and tried to go to bed at an early hour, since the next day would be busy.

The next day, I woke up early and headed over to Squeaker and Sugarfae's place, so we could trek out to Dinosaur Valley. It's a state park about an hour or so west of the Metroplex, where you can see dinosaur footprints in limestone. Funny part, a section of the footprints were sent to the New York Museum of Natural History, where I'd seen them too many times to count. But out we went, the footprints we saw were...fairly unimpressive. If the sign wasn't there, I'd have never have noticed them as anymore than holes in the ground. But still, was kinda cool to see. Nice park, what we saw of it. Packed up, headed out...back to civilization. By way of a late lunch and a tattoo/piercing place. Sugarfae was looking at piercing options. No, not me...I don't like needles. Thanks. Went back to their place, and eventually headed home. With a new sound system and DVD player. Well, not new...but I'll take handmedown hardware. Got home, setup the DVD player and watched movies til bedtime.

Sunday was a slacker day, I rearranged the living room (again), moving a bookshelf and the server rack around. Watched alot of TV, read a bit, and in general was lazy as heck. Sundays are usually lazy for me, just can't get the energy up to do much. Today, work work work. Weee work.

The $Kitty is Named Mon Aug 16 12:27:49 CDT 2004

Ok, after much pondering and gnashing of teeth, I have finally came up with a name for the $Kitty.

Cassilda, Cassie for short.

For those not into weird fiction, it's a name of a character from the King in Yellow stories. Big shock, a Mythos name for my kitty. I always thought it was a pretty name, and unlike most...pronounable by humans. She hasn't responded to it yet, then again she doesn't respond to much besides an open lap and a full food bowl.

But hurrah for named kitties. :)

New Kitty Thu Aug 12 11:55:00 CDT 2004

Well, I finally brought home a new kitty last night. I adopted her from Amythest, aka lady of many Kitties. She's currently nameless, her original owner named her Akara, but I'm not fond of it, and frankly it doesn't fit her IMHO. So I'm violating my own superstition about not renaming pets. Well, if I find something better that is. She's a nice kitty, was very unsubtle about the fact she wanted to be around me when I was hanging out at Amythest's place. She's a white with tan and black patches. Pretty little thing, tiny compaired to Diamond or Trinity. She's currently confined to my room, so no horrible catfights occur while I'm at work, tonight...we introduce $KITTY and Diamond. Wish me luck.

Take that evil shopping cart software. Thu Aug 5 12:53:25 CDT 2004

Just a quick note, I love when I bend annoying software to my will and make it work when noone else can. Take that evil shopping cart software *kick*. *struts his geeky stuff*

Ok, so I had to call their support line twice and the fix was fairly moronic, but I fixed it, the software that makes hardened techs quiver in fear and admins gnash their teeth. Ph3@4 my skillz ;)

When last we met, I was talking about my weekend. Specifically about cleaning and parties. Well, Friday night we headed out for Garland (about an hour away). This was an adventure...not. First of all, me and Nymaz decided we knew a better way to get there than Mapquest. We didn't. We got lost, badly. Finally I broke though the Y chromosome programming and called for directions. From there we got there fine. Had a lovely dinner of kebobs and other Meditarianian foods and sat around and talked til about 11. Then home, where I stayed up reading way too late as usual.

Saturday I spend with a friend of mine, helping her setup her classroom for the start of school. It was hot and stuffy in the school, so it made adding childproof locks to cabinets a long hard job. Well that and the particleboard the cabinet is made out of was hard to get a screw to bite into. Ended up having to make starter holes with a hammer and nail to get them to mount. Went home from there, took a long cool shower, vegged for a while, then headed out to the movies, by way of Chili's and Half Price Books, where as usual, I spent way too much. :( Oh well. After the book binge, we headed up to the theater and watched the Princess Bride. Laugh out loud funny, as always. Saw an old friend I haven't talked to in RL in years (though I see her on Livejournal regularly). Finally we headed home and I attempting to sleep, darn that Sunday training.

Sunday training was short and not bad, not alot of things I didn't know but I did learn a few new things. Then I came home, did way too much laundry and bummed around the house til dinnertime. Then me, Amythest and Nymaz went out to see The Village. I enjoyed it alot, even thought it wasn't at all what I expected. I did see the twist coming long before the end of the movie, but I'm weird that way. ;) I say, go see it, but don't expect alot of horror. Expect suspense and mood aplenty, but few real scares.

After the movie I came home and vegged out for a few hours. I really wasn't sleepy, even though I really wanted to get some good sleep. Finally dozed off around one AM. Wee...weekend way too short. :( Want more ;)
