Not Another Teen Movie Sun Dec 30 16:52:11 CST 2001
Well, I went and saw Not Another Teen Movie on friday night. Words escape me in describing this movie...except to say... eek. Way way way overkill on jokes, most of which went about 20 meters past the line of good taste. It's funny, especially while you play 'spot the reference'. But dear gods, it was a bit much. Ok, alot much. Definitely a rental night movie.

Wayback Machine Wed Dec 26 19:25:17 CST 2001
Wanna see what Cyberfox.org looked like back in 1998 ? Go to the Wayback Machine and see. This is kinda cool. :)

Bored at Work (Xmas Edition) Tue Dec 25 14:27:21 CST 2001
I must be so beyond bored at Internet America , it's not funny. So far I've taken 9 calls (since 10 am), uploaded some mp3s to Cabal23.net, read most of a Tolkien website, as well as Chris DiBona's webpage. Slashdot is getting hit every 10 minutes, and I just compiled E17. At home, so I won't know if it actually worked for hours still. Ye gods, I am bored... Oh well, I'll be out of here in less than 4 hours. I can survive til then I think. Hmm, maybe I should play Minesweeper...

Merry $HOLIDAY Mon Dec 24 18:45:11 CST 2001
Hey all, just wanted to wish all my readers (all 7 of you) a Merry $HOLIDAY. Personally, I'm stuck here at work, fielding the occasional calls. From here I get to go home, wrap presents as fast as my fingers (or minions) can go, sleep, get up early tomorrow, come to work 3 hours early. Then I get to celebrate $HOLIDAY with my family (of choice, since nearly all my relatives live far away.) But before I go, I wanted to leave everyone with a few things.

  • Cthulhu Carols: For when the tradtional songs just ain't insane enough.
  • Santa Cthulhu: He knows when you gibbering, he knows when your awake, he knows when you've been sane or nuts, so be nuts for Cthuhu's sake ? Another fine product of Troll and Toad.
  • Norad vs Santa: Well, not really... but kinda fun anyway. Track the Red Guy across the skies...

  • New Emails Mon Dec 24 00:56:09 CST 2001
Just a quick note, thanks to Jander I have two new email aliases. That brings the total up to 76. Woohoo. Hmm, the last four have been of the heathen variety, are you lot trying to tell me something ? ;)

Still Sick Sun Dec 23 15:19:44 CST 2001
Boy, does being sick suck. Days of being sick suck more. I've been down with this damn virus since Wednesday. Hell, I went to the doctor even, got all kinda of neat drugs, and I'm still sick. I haven't gotten squat for sleep in days, Oh well, I'm slowly going to get better...I hope. On the plus side, I haven't had to deal with Internet America for a while :)

I'm also offically 'almost' done with xmas shopping...so far I haven't spent too much money. Next time, next year, I'll have more money and more time to shop. Oh well. I'm just glad this year is almost over.

    I'm a Credit. Thu Dec 20 22:31:34 CST 2001
Check out imdb, com. I'm in the movies :) Or at least in the database. :) Now this is just in the database, on the actual credits for American Nightmare my name is spelled 'Christopher Kelley'. Well you can't have it all. :)

    Everybuddy Thu Dec 20 15:31:59 CST 2001
Well, I spent a few hours a couple of nights ago trying to get Everybuddy working again. I kinda got everything organized, but I still don't like how it handles sound, nor do I like the interface. Bleah. And Gabber is the same way, I can get it to work...kinda, but it fails on some of the important stuff. and LICQ has problems with the new ICQ stuff. I just cant win. Oh well, maybe someday I'll write my own program. Yeah, right. ;) I have to learn how to program first.

Lord of the Rings Thu Dec 20 15:03:37 CST 2001
Well I went to see Lord of the Rings last night. It was wonderful. It followed the book fairly closely, more than I thought it would. The actors fit the roles pretty well, especially the actors playing Boromir and Aragorn. And the scenery and imagery were amazing. Lovely, very lovely.

The down side, some of the camera work was rather...odd. The fight scenes were very chaotic, lots of choppy camera stuff. Kinda bugged me, but it did make the fight scenes look VERY chaotic. And, unless you've read the books, it would be confusing. But those are minor quibbles. I'm planning on seeing it again. And I can't wait til next year for the next movie.

    Sick. Wed Dec 19 17:59:14 CST 2001
I hate being sick. I hate sinuses, I hate colds, I hate allergies, I hate whatever is making me feel like my head is in a vice. I hate the fact I can't concentrate for more than 30 seconds without loosing whatever thought I had at the time. This should make going to see Lord of the Rings fun to see tonight. Oh well, I'm sick...not dead. I'll have my opinion later.

Bring your stuffed Cthulhu to work day... Mon Dec 17 13:52:42 CST 2001
Well, since monday's tend to not be surreal enough, I brought a friend into work today. One of my horde of stuffed Cthulhi, specifically the one I got as a late bday present. So now, along with the 5 Imac colored Cthulhi I got from Chaosium, and the large plush Cthulhu made by Toy Vault, I now have a micro version of the toyvault one. Kinda like a mind shattering palm pilot ;)

So far he's done a good job of scaring away calls. I'm waiting for Grim Squeaker to show up...he's gonna love this.

    *grin*

And remember, stuffed cthulhi make great stocking stuffers...

Monsters, Inc Sun Dec 16 19:04:11 CST 2001
Well, I finally got around to watching Monsters, Inc this last Friday. It was pretty good, not amazing but it was good. Funny in the right spots, with amazing graphics. A one word description would be 'cute'. Now the short they put in before the movie was much more amusing, but I'm funny that way. I'd recommend it, especially if you like Pixar stuff.

The Great Tech Support Conspiracy Thu Dec 13 23:59:30 CST 2001
Well, I thought I'd heard it all. Nope. I had a customer tonight with a unique idea of why the world is the way it is. It seems that the reason that you have to remove and reinstall various files in Windoze is part of the great conspiracy that Bill Gates has created to get the American public to waste time and money on fixing a 'simple software glitch.' And myself, as a tech support flunky, I am part of this grand conspiracy. I should be working in a 'better' career, not wasting my time and other peoples by doing techsupport. Umm...ok. Amazing what people think. Software should be infallable eh ? And never fail... funny how nothing else works like that. Oh well, I fixed her Conspiracy related software and sent her on her merry way. Maybe I should have told her I run a website called Cabal23.net ? Nah, would have messed with her head a tad too much I think.

    American Nightmare...Almost Here Wed Dec 12 22:40:46 CST 2001
Woohoo, just 48 days and counting til American Nightmare is released. I'm so excited, hell I even have an entry in the Internet Movie Database...though with my name misspelled. Waiting on that to get corrected. :) If your really intrested, head on over to Amazon.com and preorder. :) Also, if you want to see the trailer, click here.

Firewall migration Mon Dec 10 22:26:35 CST 2001
Well, the first migration of a Cyberfox.org machine to a Cabal23.net machine. I moved my home firewall to a Cabal hostname. So the old foxgate.cyberfox.org is now known as cthulhu.cabal23.net. Why cthulhu ? Well, it's also running as a Squid server, and I thought the pun was worth it. :) This is the first migration of several, moving several of the home machines to cabal23.net. Really won't affect anything, but it looks cool to me :)

Why am I moving the machines to Cabal23.net ? No real reason, other than wanting a slightly larger block of machine names, and the ability for better puns in naming machines. My workstations will probably remain fox related, as well as lair.cyberfox.org. The rest, well now they can be anything I want. Discordian, Lovecraftian, just plain weird...whatever :) Ok, so it's not a big deal, but I'm happy.

New emails Mon Dec 10 20:00:24 CST 2001
Well, since I'm providing hosting for a friend of mine of his two domains, I got to add a pair of email aliases to my list. So I'm back in the webhosting business. Thanks to Vanyel for the emails.

Cirque Du Soleil Sun Dec 9 19:44:14 CST 2001
Well, today I went and saw Cirque Du Soleil today. What a amazing show. If you've never seen this, and you get the chance...GO ! It's an incredible combination of juggling, acrobatics, dance, music and comedy. Yes, comedy, the clowns steal the show. Go see it, it's amazing.

    Movies Sat Dec 8 00:21:08 CST 2001
Along with the new mouse, today was movie day for Vulpine. First I went to a matinee showing of Texas Rangers. It wasn't worth the matinee price. The only saving grace was Rachael Leigh Cook...who was only in about 3 scenes in the movie with a bad Texas accent. Avoid, unless you love westerns. Which I should know better by now, I'm a yankee city boy, I don't like westerns...closest I come to westerns was F-Troop. I'll try to keep this in mind from now on.

Later, I went with GrimSqueaker, SugarFae, Needo, and Jenn (she needs a website.) to see Spy Game. Now this was good, I like spy thrillers. Good plot, long enough to give lots of good details, but it never really dragged. I'd recommend it. Note, at the CIA hq in the movie, look for the # of Tux the penguins floating around. :) Linux is everywhere.

New Mouse Sat Dec 8 00:17:32 CST 2001
Ok, not a really big post, but I got a new toy today. A MS Intellimouse Explorer, one of the fancy optical mice. So far it's a little slower than my old Logitech scroll mouse, but I think I'll get used to it. Sooner or later. I also need to get all 5 buttons working under X, but that's for another day.

ViM is so nifty. Fri Dec 7 00:08:58 CST 2001
Well, I found another feature in ViM I adore. The ability to specify abbreviations in the .vimrc. Such as saying "ab ME Vulpine" and everytime I type "ME" in ViM, it prints out 'Vulpine'. Saves on typing just a tad. Still trying to figure out what else it can do... but yes, ViM is sweet.

Three Day Weekend Thu Dec 6 23:53:53 CST 2001
Woohoo !!! I'm off work for 3 days. No idiot customers, no silly billing crap, no WinXP setups. *happy dance* Why does Vulpine have 3 days off you ask, well 2 days are my normal weekend...Sunday I have off as vacation. I've got tickets to Circl de Solie (however the hell that's spelled. Ya know, that weird french circus thingie ;) Well, I got the day off so I can go...with pay. :) *more happy dancing*

Speaking of Internet America, yesterday was my 91st day on the job...which means I can offically transfer. Of course, there is no open position to transfer to. Smeg. I want off the tech floor so badly I can taste it. The fact that I have to take billing calls still annoys me. I'm not a billing person, I barely can keep track of my own checking account, much less other people's payments. And the crass stupidity of some of these people...argh. I'm bad about paying bills, but at least I admit it...not claim that I sent payments that I hadn't. Not like we'll let things slip, money good. *sigh* Maybe I'll get to move on soon...please please please let me move on soon. Oh well, at least it's a job, it could be worse.

    Jackhammers anyone ? ;)

Gallery Fixed Tue Dec 4 23:48:44 CST 2001
Well, a friend of mine pointed out that my Gallery was kinda borked. Well, at least the gallery hosted on the Cabal23.net end of it. Damn Apache configs...one day I'll have to make sure all the tweaks in my BSDi box match my OpenBSD box. While I'm at it, I'll also have to create a way to rsync the boxes, I'm tired of modding one box, then having to mod the other...there's got to be an easier way to do this.

Bored fox... Tue Dec 4 17:18:16 CST 2001
Boy is work dull today, slow and dull. The fact I feel like hell isn't helping. I so want to go to sleep. Too bad I'm stuck here doing Tech Support. Bleah.

AT&T is doing ok, no interuptions, and as long as foxgate doesn't release the IP address, I can login fine from outside. So all is good. I need to fix Reynard one of these days, the fan on the CPU failed, which explains why it kept crashing the last few days. Oh well, I've wanted to upgrade the CPU in Reynard sooner or later, and I've got the spares on AMD processors. So, maybe tonight...if I'm up for it.

Not much else...For the cute chick fans, check out Rachelleighcook.net ;) You'll be glad you did.

New Email Mon Dec 3 23:28:45 CST 2001
One good thing came out of the @home/attbi.com fiasco. I am now the proud owner of vulpine@attbi.com. That makes an even 70 aliases. :) Just need another 150 or so, and I'll be happy.

    Segway... Mon Dec 3 18:49:52 CST 2001
Ok, that's it...it's a scooter. Feh. All the hype, and it's a scooter. A intresting looking scooter, kinda cool idea, but not something to revolutionize the world. *laugh* And I was hoping it was the Jetson's car, that folds up to be a briefcase. If your curious, check out the website.

Cyberfox Back Online Mon Dec 3 01:37:16 CST 2001
Just a quick note, AT&T seems to have come through for us North Texas geeks. I'm back online, and damn happy about it. Now to find away around the DHCP foo, and I'm ready to go. :) But, that's tomorrow.

    Cyberfox@home DOWN !!! Sun Dec 2 14:54:11 CST 2001
Ok...if you have had no contact with the internet world, you won't have known that @home has gone south for the winter. They killed the agreement they had with my cable provider on Saturday, so no internet for me. Good news, at&t is creating a new network to provide access. Bad news, they plan on not allowing static IP's, only DHCP. Feh...this is not good. Oh well. Now to really plan on moving so I can get DSL. For now, I have no Internet at home...but thanks to Grim Squeaker and Work, I'll have a 56k dialup connection as a backup. So, don't expect alot of updates for a while. *grumble*
