Shadow Out of Stitches Sat Feb 19 16:21:13 CST 2005
Mood: good Music of the Day: Virgin Steele - A Symphony Of Steele
Just a quick note, Shadow went to the vet today to get his stitches out. It all went good, took maybe 2 minutes to do. So, he got destitched and we came home. Ferret happy. Fox happy. Life is good. :) More news later, when I have free time. Ciao all.

Weekend Update Sun Feb 13 22:04:20 CST 2005
Mood: down Music of the Day: Conspiracy on TV
Darn, it's Sunday already. I so miss 3 day weekends, but then again I like getting out of work at 6pm instead of 8pm. Bleah. Shadow is doing pretty good. After the surgery his food intake was pretty low, I called the vet and they said go ahead and forcefeed him human baby food, it's high in protein and easy on the tummy. The first day was kinda of a struggle, he'd eat, but not alot...but by Friday he was eating off the spoon with little struggle or bribery. And he's eating some of his dry kibble too, not alot, but still it's a good thing. Also, I got a call from the Vet on Saturday, his biopsies came back, and the tumors are not hyperplastic (cancerous). So there was much rejoicing on Saturday. Shadow's feeling very spry, but I'm still careful with him, and will be at least til the stiches are out. That should be later this week, maybe Saturday. Saturday would be good, since I don't have to take time off from work to go. I feel pretty good and positive about Shadow.

The rest of the weekend was pretty ok, other than the moodswings that started last night. Friday night we watched TV (Stargate SG1 and Atlantis) and bummed around Amythest's new apartment. Saturday we had a suprise party for a friend, went and played Lasertag and watched movies. I ran home and fed the ferret afterwards, then back to Amythest's to help unpack and watch TV. Came home and played City of Heroes, finally made level 30 for Steel Weasel. Weee me. I like the game, it's occasionally repetative, and not a very technical game. But it's good, it makes me happy, and that's what I need.

Today I bummed around the house, played more CoH and watched TV. Went back over to Amythest's to watch more TV and help put up stuff. Yes, I see myself spending alot of time over at her place, she has better cable than me. Came home, generally cleaned up around the house a little, and cleaned myself. Now I'm watching TV and writing this. I hope I get some good sleep tonight, I need it. And hopefully this week at work will be fairly calm and lacking in stress. *Crosses fingers*

Shadow Quotes Thu Feb 10 11:16:42 CST 2005
Mood: amused Music of the Day: Hammerfall - Riders of the Storm
And since I can find the humorous in anything, some funny email quotes from conversations about Shadow the last week or so. Names have been removed to protect the weird ;)

> Well hopefully, my next round of ferret babble includes weasel war dancing
> and sillyness, not surgery.
>

My brain translated that as "weasel war driving", and I had this instant
image of you driving around, holding Shadow while he sniffed excitedly for
WiFi signals. :-)

>> I have to go home and medicate my ferret...
> TMI! TMI!
*snicker*
What's wrong, the vet tech shaved my weasel ;)

*grin* Speaking of the weasel, he's eating a bit this morning, though he's turned his nose up to his normal feed. Lucky for him, the cat food the cats get is high in protein and he likes it, so he gets a mix of the two for a while, see if we can get him back eating his normal food. Of course, post surgery I wasn't much for eating either...so I'm trying to not worry much.

Shadow Home Wed Feb 9 18:05:24 CST 2005
Mood: good Music of the Day: TV on as background
Shadow's home safe, and fairly perky for a surgery recoveree. The vet is very positive, and he looks rather happy to be home. I need to take him back in a week or so to get the stiches out. Shadow will be isolated from Winter for a while, can't have him pulling his stiches out. But, that's only for a while. Poor little guy. *smile*

Extra special thanks to Amythest for being a ferret chauffer today. *smile*

Shadow's coming home Wed Feb 9 11:23:18 CST 2005
Mood: relieved Music of the Day: Hammerfall - Crimson Thunder
Talked to the vet today, Shadow's ready to come home. So I need to swing down and snag him sometime today. Might go during lunch, though Amythest did volunteer to go get him. We'll see. Thank you, for all your good thoughts. I'll post again later when he's back from the vet and I have more news.

Shadow Update (part 2) Tue Feb 8 19:46:28 CST 2005
Mood: tired Music of the Day: Battlestar Galactica on TV
Just a quick update, Shadow went to the vet and had his surgery. They found 3 tumors (insulinomas) on his pancreas and removed them. Because of the three seperate incisions on his pancreas, the vet decided to keep him overnight just to be safe. So he should be coming home tomorrow, and then the recovery begins. Hopefully all will be well soon.

Shadow Update Mon Feb 7 09:33:48 CST 2005
Mood: worried Music of the Day: HammerFall - HammerFall
Shadow is doing well, quite a bit of energy, if not quite to the same level as Winter. He had me rather worried Friday/Saturday, since I haven't seen him eating, but his energy levels hadn't changed, in fact he'd gotten even more playful. and when I seperated him to monitor his food intake he was eating normal amounts. So hopefully the surgery will help fix the underlying issues and i'll have a happy, healthy weasel for a long time to come.

So, wish me and Shadow luck tomorrow.

Vulpine, worried weasel person

Long time no post. Sun Feb 6 20:04:35 CST 2005
Mood: tired Music of the Day: None
Well, it's been a while since I wrote anything, been hellabusy at work, and when I get home I watch a little tv, then fall over. Shadow is doing pretty good, was worried he wasn't eating yesterday, but he's just being a sneaky cuss, eating while I can't see/hear it. Speaking of ferrets, I have two guests this week. Amythest is moving this next week, and I'm keeping her two ferrets til the move is done. So I have Frodo and Arwen. Arwen is a young ferret, and so very energetic she ran my guys into the ground. It was fun, watching four ferrets alternately explore, poing, and mockwrestle. Lots of wardancing. Should be a busy week.

The rest of the weekend was ok, didn't do a whole lot. Spent today helping Amythest pack. Yesterday I watched TV and ran errands with my mom. Friday night went and watched Stargate and Battlestar Galactica with some friends. Was fun, other than I was so tired I was home by 10:30. *thud*

Not much else, hoping work this week is calmer than last week. Be nice to have a calm/slowish week. *knocks on wood* Oh yeah, I need to call the vet tomorrow and make arrangements for Shadow's surgery. We'll see what the vet says. Shadow is doing well on the meds, but that's just treating the symptoms. As I get more news, I'll let you lot know.
