Well, another weekend had come to a close. Was a fairly quiet weekend, Friday
was my usual being a vegetable, recovering from being sick can suck. I did
get to play cat sitter for Amythest,
but Corwin is a sweet kitty. The redhead is out of town for a while, and we
don't want Corwin going stircrazy. After cat care, I came home. Watched
Stargate SG-1, Atlantis and Battlestar Galactica as usual. Even went to bed
kinda early, and got some real sleep. Saturday I mostly spent playing
World of Warcraft. Saturday
evening I met up with Techie and
'Stina, along with her roommate and the roomie's BF at Fuddrucker's for
dinner. After dinner we headed back to
Techie's to watch
Strictly Ballroom. I've seen
it before, it's cute. For those not in the know, it's about ballroom dancing
in Australia. Sounds dull ? It's not, and even me, who isn't a fan of
romantic movies. It's funny as hell in spots, and the sap is minor. Came
home, tried to sleep...failed mostly. Eventually dozed off and had a bizarre
dream involving me sneaking into a jail to free a bunch of prostitutes who
were in danger. No, I have no idea why.
Woke up Sunday, did more vegging around the house. Went to the store, got stuff
for the week. Also got an email from the volunteer coordinator for the
North Texas Irish Fest. Got my schedual for
next weekend. Been many years since I did the volunteering thing, got burned
out doing it all the time during my coven days. I'm hoping it's fun.
As for the rest of Sunday, I
watched Potergeist: The Legacy
and Andromeda, thanks
to Netflix. Made dinner (chicken
nachos, was actually pretty tasty) and generally didn't do a whole lot. Kinda
got moody, as I am wont to do on Sundays, but some ferret time and chatting
with a few good friends made things better. Went to sleep, and did my usual
wake up 10 times a night thing....ugg. So tired now. But, it will pass and
soon I'll have a new(ish) futon to sleep on. Yeah, not sure I mentioned this,
but a friend of mine is selling me her own futon, with extra covers. And I
like sleeping on futons, so this should be a very good thing. Well, other than
having to buy new sheets (it's a full, and I currently have a twin). Maybe
then I'll get some good sleep. *hope* Well, on that note, back to the salt
mines.

Came home early from work, I'm feeling like I'm coming down with a cold, so
I cut out early and fed myself drugs, mac and cheese and grape/cranberry juice.
No idea why I like that stuff, I only want it when I don't feel good. Maybe it's
the sharp taste, cuts though the gunk. So I'm home, probably won't be online
much tonight. I'm thinking curling up in bed with a book. Or just curling up.
Send good thoughts if you want, I can use em.

Yay me. And since I was bored, I wrote a little countdown page. Yeah, I used
ASP, sue me ;)

Not sure what I will do, got some ideas about vegging, going to various
favorite places in D/FW, and this vague thought about organizing my books.
We'll see. Woo for vacation.

Ok...I found gum tonight. Not on the bottom of my shoe. In my shoe. attached
to the sock. No flippin' clue where it's from. I don't chew gum. I don't
walk around outside in my sockfeet, and I'm fairly sure there wasn't gum on
my sock when I put it on this morning. So how in the heck did I get gum inside
my shoe? A friend of mine suggests sockgnomes. I believe that the universe
is just messing with me in a unique way.

hate not sleeping. Specifically, I hate when I go to bed tired, then
can't settle in. Hard to get comfortable in bed, especially when the weather
has gone wonky and my sinuses are filling up. And then I wake up at every
little sound. I may try the Tylenol PM again, it tends to keep me mostly
done though the night...even if I feel like a hungover dope fiend the next
day. I think alot of it is stress, not wanting to go to work the next
day. Cause on Friday/Saturday nights, I sleep though the night more often
than not. Of course, I also wait til I'm about to fall over before I
go. So I don't know. Maybe I need to just expect to not sleep, stay up
til I'm about to fall over, and see if that helps. Or take up drinking.
Probably also need to find something fairly dull to read before bed,
something like history of columns or something similar.
On the subject of relaxing, I'm thinking of taking a few days off in the
middle of March. Not going anywhere, at least as I've planned. I just
can't afford the cash to roadtrip right now, nor do I trust my car to
go far. So I'm thinking a long weekend running around DFW. Maybe hit the
Ft. Worth Zoo and the Dallas Aquarium. Curl up with a bunch of books
and the work connections turned off. :) Recharge the old batteries a bit,
so I don't end up going postal at work. Going postal would be bad. So lets
hope for more sleep between now and then, and a ton of sleep while I'm off.

Well it's been an ok weekend. Friday night I cut out of work a little
early and went birthday present shopping with Amythest for Skipper's bday. Went to Walmart, picked up some Starwars
stuff for him, and food and a blender for me. Yay for milkshakes. Came
home, made dinner (hotdogs and chips) and a few attempts at milkshakes,
too much milk...but still was kinda tasty. Didn't mind drinking the mistakes.
*grin* Then settled in to watch Stargates SG1 and Atlantis, and Battlestar
Galactica. I'm really enjoying all three shows, SG1 seems to have
survived without Jack ONeil (it's not the same, but still enjoyable) and
Atlantis doesn't seem to be a cheap knockoff of SG1. Battlestar
Galactica has been rather enjoyable, if a little overly dark for me. But
then again, annilhilation of the human race is a fairly dark subject ;)
Played a bit of WOW, not alot read for a while. Attempted to take a hot
bath, but the best I could get is warmish...which wasn't what my aching
bod wanted. So ended up going to bed fairly early.
Saturday I slept in, puttered around the house and proceded to fail at
most everything I tried. Tried upgrading
Shub-Internet: failed. Tried
making hamburger helper, got distracted and ended up generating a small
fire. No damage but still...yeep. Cleaned that up, decided to make fried
ravoli instead...they ended up tasting nasty. At that point I gave up
and vegged in front of the tube til it was time for Skipper's bday
party. Went out, after spending a long while deicing the car, stopped by
the store for soda and stuff. Was a nice, lowkey party. Watched
Saved! which was amusing, though watching all the born agains was a tad
disconcerting. Fundementalist christians, even on TV, make no sense to me.
Though I did have some quasi-amusing thoughts of things like "Little Fishes"
the daycare subsiderary of the Esoteric Order of Dagon. Too bad
The Grim Squeaker wasn't there,
he would have been the only one to really get the humor ;) We also
watched Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human. Very funny movie about
dating, done as an Alien documentary, sorta like what you see on National
Geographic. After that we watched a video of the
D/FW Ufies List Halloween party a few
years back. The one I wasn't at because I was living in Austin. Meh.
After that I headed home and crashed out.
Sunday I woke up later than planned, headed over to Amythest's to help her
out with running errands and such. Got to watch a few episodes of
Poltergeist: The Legacy, a cool show from Showtime that never got the
attention it deserved. Then we went out to see Final Destination 3. Now
I wasn't a big fan of the first one, never saw the second. But I did
enjoy the 3rd. I wasn't taking it too seriously, basically the plot is
if you cheat death, death comes back to get you in a series of bizare
Rube Goldberg like scenarios. All plausable, but very very unlikely.
Amusing and gory, not much scare though. Came home, vegged watching
a show on prototype fighters and bombers on history channel. Then went
and let the ferrets play while watching 'Allo 'Allo. Arwen got a nice shock,
literally. He's been making a game of attacking my feet/legs when I'm
around. Well I was laying down, and he attacked my toe...and I guess I had
a nice charge of static electricity...ferret got a zap, and avoided me the
rest of the night. Poor weasel. He got extra treats to make up for it...
what can I say, I'm a sucker. ;) Went to bed, slept VERY erratically.
Woke up about 10 times in the night, generally went right back to sleep,
but I still feel kinda run down today. *yawn*

Well, so far my St. Cthulhu's day has had it's ups and downs. Work was good,
a mostly quiet and calm day that gave me the chance to catch up on everything.
I also ordered a copy of
Weird Shadows over Innsmouth from a
local weird book dealer. Literally down the road in Dallas, so I should see it
by Thursday or Friday at the latest. I probably should have saved the cash,
but I wanted a treat, and I've wanted this book for a while now.
Downsides to today, still no hot water. And by the time I got home from work,
the apartment office was closed. *grumble* So another day with no hot shower,
or bath, or whatever. More cleaning myself in the sink it seems. :( I also
went to the store, got a few things I needed, but forgot the whole reason I went
in the first place. Catfood. Diamond and Cassilda will deal...or devour
my flesh while I sleep ;)
It's not so bad, just kinda grumpy over the shower thing, and the store thing.
I hate cold showers, and I hate apartment people who don't do their damn jobs.
So instead I'm watching
Dagon and generally vegging til time for bed. Which will probably be
early tonight.
On the lighter side, I've avoided comment about the whole Mohammad cartoon
fiasco, and the repercussions. But...I have to link to this...
Israeli Anti-Semitic Cartoons Contest.
"We'll show the world we can do the best, sharpest, most offensive Jew hating cartoons ever published!" said Amitai Sandy "No Iranian will beat us on our home turf!"
Now this is something I can get behind. Hurrah for people with a sense of
humor. :) Thanks to Rialian for
the link.

Yes, I'm in an odd mood. Not bad, unlike most of my single bretheren I'm
not terribly bitter about the holiday, mostly because I try to ignore it's
existance. Happyness due to good mental shielding, that's me.
I did get myself a good StC day pressie in the mail yesterday, a first printing
of House of the Toad by Richard Tierney. Yay for mythos novels, and for
works of one of my favorite authors. *grin*
Not much else, no real plans for tonight...depends on my mood, my energy
level and if I have hot water in the shower by tonight or not. Damn
apartments. *grr* Oh well, have fun...and stay squamous everybody.

Been thinking of vacations. I am so beyond stressed right now, with work and
stuff at home, plus some personal stuff I won't go into. So, the idea of taking
a weekend or so to myself and getting away is very tempting. I'm thinking of
renting a cabin in the middle of nowhere, bringing up food, books and stuff
and just being by myself for a while. I'm thinking of Turner Falls in
Oklahoma. It's pretty, it's not far, it's got some remoteness, but not so
much as to be lacking in the basic requirements. I'd spend the weekend walking
around, reading, generally being a vegetable.
There is a downside to this plan. In the assorted weird fiction I so love,
it never fails. Someone rents a cabin to get away from it all, and bad things
happen. Evil spirits, possessed books, fungi from a far planet wanting to
put the person's brain in a jar. So...I might go and never been seen again.
Or come back as a possessed avatar of Cthulhu. Or just run afoul of killer
hillbillies. But, it's worth the risk to me. *wink*
Oh, and for those who think I couldn't handle being without the internet for
a weekend, that won't be too hard to deal with. Be kinda nice to be away
from the 'net and all it encompasses for a while.

Well, it's been an odd week. Tuesday I went back to work, worked...felt like
a monday+ :( Wednesday was similar, but more like a monday - than a monday +.
Thursday well, was about the same...save it was more like a Wednesday.
My internal calendar is way off...I woke up Thursday hoping it was Friday.
Now that I got you all confused ;) Thursday night was fun at least, went
out with a bunch from the
D/FW Ufies List to a Greek place in
Dallas. Nice enough place, food wasn't great (kinda bland for what I got,
but everyone else seemed pretty happy with the food). They also had belly
dancers, but I had the offically worst seat in the house. I turned around
to watch the dance floor...and I had a giant black pillar in my way. *laugh*
Just my luck. Oh well. Afterwards headed home and sacked out, I was pooped.
Today at work is...odd. Walked in to 3 different techs asking me goofy/bizare
questions. Not stupid, none of these were things in their experience. Problem
was, neither were they things I knew off the top of my head, and 3 of them
messaging at me like crazy didn't help. Got that all straightened out.
Now to survive the rest of the dull day.
Tonight, I plan to veg. Get a pizza, watch Stargate, be a bum. :) Yay
bumness. Tomorrow is housework, ick...but well, it needs to be done. Badly.
Tomorrow night is SugarFae's going
away party *sad look*. Sunday...not much planned yet. Busyish weekend.
Wee fun.

I didn't win the Cthulhu chess set, the bidding went up to $721.00, and
while yes I could pay that out over 8 months, still that's not something
I need. Darn being a responsible adult. ;) But, on the plus side, I
got some nifty computer parts from Pat,
specifically a motherboard for Shub-Internet, and a HP Deskjet printer of some kind. He's been trying to give
this stuff away, and well...I was there. The motherboard has a Duron cpu,
that is probably bad. So I'll swap it out and see how it runs. *crosses
fingers* The printer needs a serial cable and a new ink cartridge, hopefully
I'll get that all setup this weekend, then I can print :) Thanks Pat, for all

Well, here's the rest of my weekend. After the 'con I came home, and I was in
a great mood driving home. Said mood went slightly left field when I saw
3-4 cop cars around my apartment. Eep. Ask the cop what was going on. "Sorry
sir, I can't talk about it." Err...ok. But not about my apartment itself,
so it was all ok. Came in, changed shirts to the new
Cthulhu
The Destroyer shirt, and headed down to downtown Fort Worth to meet up
with a few D/FW Ufies to celebrate
The Silia's birthday. The
original plan was to go to some place called P.F. Chang's for Chinese...well
we got there, and there was an bit of a wait. Ok, Ms.Silla had been there
already about 30-45 min, and there was still an hour or so wait. Ok, plan
be...Pizzarea Uno. That's good. 45 min wait. *grumble* So we decide to
split up and find someplace with less of a wait. Eventually a la Madeline's
was found with no wait, so we converged on the land of faux French food.
I had some chicken sandwich, it was actually rather good...other than the
crunchy french bread was more like eating a rock. Hurrah for forks. After
dinner we split up, and a few of us headed to
Techie's place to watch
Ice Age. Yay sabertooth
squirrels. *grin* It's a funny movie, and made for a good end of the day.
Sunday was less perky. Had a series of bad dreams, and woke up in a less
than stellar mood and not feeling too swift. Ran some errands, got people
and ferret food, went home, vegged out for a while and eventally went
with Amythest to
Pat's Superbowl party. Yep, I went
to do something football related, quit fainting. I had fun, some of the
commercials were good, and the company was alot of fun. New people to laugh
at my jokes, hurrah. Came home, watched a little TV, got ready for bed and
read til a little after midnight. Woke up Monday feeling rather icky, and just
not up for work. So I called in, got some more sleep, read some more, watched
a movie I picked up at the 'con, played some World of Warcraft and generally was lazy. Not in the best mood today,
could have been worse, but it could have been better as well. Going to
bed in a little while, and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Well I offically had a majorly kick ass Saturday. I went to
Texas Frightmare Weekend
which is a local horror movie convention. Originally
Nymaz told me about it, saying
that the director and a bunch of the cast from
American Nightmare would
be there. And since I was part of the cast, I should show up. This is the
movie I was an extra in back in 2000. Sounds good, mark it in my calendar...
but I had no clue what the con was called, or where it was. Then about 5-6
days ago, I get an email from Sigh Co.
(the people who made my Esoteric Order of Dagon shirt, saying they'll be vending at a con
in DFW...same weekend. Hmm, what are the odds of two horror cons in DFW at the
same time ? ;) So I looked, saw on the schedual "American Nightmare panel".
Bingo. So, I plan to go.
Saturday I woke up, headed to Grapevine and found the con. A little pricy, but
hey, I'm pretty sure I'll have fun. Walk in, looks like a cross between your
standard sci-fi anime con, and an *ahem* alternative lifestyle con. Lots
of piercings and tats, lots of geeky people, lots of pretty girls in slinky
outfits. Looks like the right place. Walk around a bit, see this HUGE line.
No idea what for, but in the corner by the end of the line I see John, the
director of American Nightmare. Go over, say hi, shoot the breeze about
life (last time we talked was pre-Austin.) and movies (he's finishing up his
first crime drama.) Watch the strange people, talk to a few about the
various horror movies Highland Myst
has out. Later, John's wife joined us, she's a very old and dear friend, so
we spent a long while catching up as well. Was very good. :)
After all the chit chat, I went and wandered the vendors area some more, lots
of movies for sale, lots of stuff. Larry
Kaufman was there, surrounded by a crowd most of the time. Oh yeah, the
long line...was to get in to see some of the stars of
The Devil's Rejects and
Tom Savini. But I couldn't
see waiting in line for hours for that. I did finally find Sigh Co, and chatted
with the owner, I was wearing my EoD shirt, intentionally. Hey, got to show
the vendors that they are appreciated.
Came back to the Highland Myst table, found out that instead of just a panel on
American Nightmare, they were going to screen the movie first, then the panel,
with Joe Bob Briggs running the
thing. Cool, it's been a long while since I saw myself on screen. Go
watch American Nightmare, it's still fun...Hey, where else can I see myself
on screen saying "Hey Rick, turn the radio up. He's back on." *grin* I
even cheered myself a little when my line came, and the person sitting next to
me said "What, you know that guy ?" No, I am that guy. *GRIN* Then, the
panel. Including a very very hot looking
Debbie Rochon. *grin* Yum
yum. The panel was about the making, and how the actors felt about making a
slasher flick. Pretty interesting, plus I was asked (along with the rest of
the crew that was there) to stand up. Major ego boost ;) Then we vacated the
movie viewing room for the next horror flick. I did a little more shopping,
got two new tshirts from Sigh Co, Indian Cthulhu and
Pazuzu. I also got a book,
by a fairly new Texan author
Scott A. Johnson. He had a couple of ghost stories and a book about
zombies, with a post apocalyptic setting. Nice guy, very pleasant, very
eagar to talk about his books. So I took a chance and got the book on zombies.
I like zombies (and so far it's pretty good). So if you like zombies, look
for a book by Mr. Johnson called Deadlands. I also picked up a copy of
Suburban Nightmare and an
American Nightmare poster from Jon, the poster I got signed by the 3 big
actresses (
Brandy Little
Brinke Stevens and
of course, Ms Rochon. (I also got a pic from another movie autographed, but hey
I'm allowed my fanboy moments.) Then I said bye to everyone and headed home.
I was bouncing around on a major good mood, this is the most fun I've had in
a long while. I really hope they decide to do this con again next year, next
time I won't make plans for the rest of the weekend and go see lots more
indie horror movies. *grin* And now, now I'm going to bed. Well, as
soon as I post this. (and yes, I know this has more links in it than any
5 normal posts of me. Sue me *wink*). There's more to my saturday, but I'll
talk about cops, 2 hour waits for chinese food and sabertoothed squirrels
tomorrow. Night night.
