Well, a friend of mine decided to get a little artistic on me. Or with me
as the case may be. So, now you can see what I look like if I took the
fox in Cyberfox a little too far ;) I really love this pic, and
damn near everyone who's seen it has said. "It's you !?!" So it ends up
on the site ;) Special special thanks to
Mousie for the pic. I love it.
So go give her some business :)

| Swordfish | July 23rd 2001 |
|
Went and saw Swordfish last night. Out of all the hacker movies I've seen,
this was probably the closest to reality I've seen. Real geek terms, sometimes
even used correctly. Lots of nifty hardware, lots of fun toys. And for
the first time on a motion picture screen that I've seen, how a hacker
actually brain storms a new program. I was laughing my head off. I'm
liking John Travolta as a bad guy more and more, think I need to watch
Broken Arrow sometime this week. Of course, the movie did have flaws,
such as what I think was a horrid piece of editing, I think a whole bridging
scene (linking parts together) was cut, and it left me wondering...'err, WTF ?'
But other than that it was pretty good. I had a good giggle at the name
of one of the hackers, a Finnish guy by the name of Torvalds ;) I wonder
what that's about ;)

| Kitsune Upgrade | July 20th 2001 |
|
Well I continued my computer upgrades today, by making a few small changes
to Kitsune. I added an additional 128 megs of memory, and switched cases
from a mini-mid tower to a fulltower case. (same case I used to have for
nogitsune). Ok, nothing major, but I like it :) I want to upgrade the
processor to a faster athlon when I have a job and some spare cash. Which
will probably be not for a while. I also attempted to upgrade Reynard,
and failed utterly. Not sure if the MB died, or what. So I'll be dragging
the remains over to my favorite hardware gurus for an autopsy. I hate
messing with hardware, especially jumper driven hardware. But I broke
my cardinal rule of computing, never try to switch parts from a working
computer to build a new computer. For some reason the computer gods take
offense at 'harvesting' from working boxen. Dead is fine, live pisses them
off. And yes I am that superstitious about computing.

| Liska's Rebirth | July 15th 2001 |
|
Well, thanks to Jander, SuSE,
and Mt Dew, I have a laptop running SuSE 7.1. Was a pain in the butt, getting
X to work, but I finally did. Now to get everything working. Got Enlightenment
working, along with my usual chat programs. I'll play more tomorrow, maybe
take a screenshot or two. Still having some headaches with it recognizing
things like the sound chip and stuff. But other than that, it's peachy. :)

| Cyberfox @ the Movies | July 14th 2001 |
Ok, I've seen a bunch of movies in the last few weeks. So here we go with
Vulpine's Movie Reviews.
Final Fantasy
Ok, the hyped movie of the year (well, at least til Lord of the Rings.),
and guess what ? It wasn't bad. No mindblowing plot, but it was cool.
It's anime, therefor it is occasionally confusing, and sometimes plain
opaque. But it was enjoyable. Go see it, unless you don't like anime.
Kiss of the Dragon
Jet Li flick, small plot, lots of martial arts, not much wires. Very
good. I'm starting to like Jet Li movies more and more, I like his
acting style. Especially in Once Upon a Time in China, now that was
excellent.
Cats and Dogs
Well, it's cute. It's funny, it's mostly plotless. Cats as the bad
guys, well stereotypical...but well, stereotypes tend to exist for a
reason. I can see Diamond and Trinity trying to take over the world.
And maybe suceeding. It's cute, the kids will like it, and there is enough
adult jokes to keep the parents entertained.
Shrek
See above review, with less cats and dogs and more mythical figures.
Eddie Murphy shows that he can do humor without body language. Mike Myers
gets to dig out his Scottish accent from 'So I Married an Axe Murderer'.
Again, cute for the kids, with adult jokes for the parents.
Scary Movie 2
Well, the movie that said it would never have a sequel. And the sequel
isn't as good as the original (well they rarely are). But it's still
hysterical in spots. James Woods as an exorcist, a parrot who talks
trash, busty redhead running around (well that's not funny, but it was
nice. ;), lots of scatological humor and sexual references. Oh yeah, Richard
Moll as a ghost. That was amusing. I'd see it as a matinee, or wait for the
video...unless you LOVE the Waynes brothers.

| Picget | July 11th 2001 |

Well, I finally coded something. I wanted to create a program to grab a
image off a website, then display it. Simple you say, well yeah, probably.
But I didn't know that, and I coded it myself. So I'm proud. So there.
:P *laugh* And if your curious to what kind of programs I come up with
check it out here.

| No News Ain't Great News | July 8th 2001 |
|
Wellm it's been a while since I posted last...and no i haven't done squat
with my life since then. No luck on the job front, bills piling up,
definitely feeling whelmed...On the 'plus' side, I still have my health,
my ferrets, my cats, and my friends. Easy to forget the good things
when you life goes to hell in a handbasket. Maybe this time I won't forget.
