Installing Windows, Bathing Cats and DVD Resurrection Spells Sat Jun 26 18:41:47 CDT 2004
Mood: Whacked Music of the Day: BTVS on TV
Well, it's been an...intresting day so far. Woke up after sleeping far too long, got up started installing various anti-virus and anti-spyware programs on Yog, per some good geek advice. It's been over 2 years since I owned a Wintendo other than my laptop. So I installed lots of protection, as well as a bunch of linuxish utilities.

After much geeking and chatting, I went and bathed my critters. We've had a horrible flea problem here, so yesterday I went and got assorted antiflea stuff. So today first I bathed the ferrets, which was intresting...Ferrets turn into buzzsaws when you take them out of the bathwater. So I'm now a little shreded. Then Diamond in the drink...and as usual, he screamed like I was pouring acid on him rather than water. So he's now sulking in my room. But hopefully he will be a defleaed sulker.

After that I had a shock. My DVD player has been kaput for a week now. Cheap bit of equipment, so I haven't made much fuss. Well, following some instructions this morning, I tried some reset tricks. Eventually I gave up. Well, while I was on the phone with my mom, it suddenly kicked in. *shocked look* So I ran some cleaner stuff, and now I have a working DVD player. *blink* No idea why, but it does. And now I'm watching my favorite Slayer (Eliza Dushku) running around in the rain. Life is good :)

Yog-Software Sat Jun 26 01:57:59 CDT 2004
Mood: Geeky Music of the Day: Blue Oyster Cult - The Siege and Investiture of B
Finally got Yog-Software up and running. Thanks to some spare parts I picked up, I now have an Athlon 750 with 384 megs RAM and a 40 gig hard drive. Ok, it's fairly slow as a gamebox, but it's working and it plays Worms Armageddon, so I'm a happy fox. Now to get all the software crap I want installed, installed.

Weekend Babbleage Mon Jun 21 14:02:42 CDT 2004
Mood: Good Music of the Day: None
Well, I had a fairly good weekend. Friday I ran errands and did laundry, then hung out with some friends. Went to Fry's to spend the bonus check I got this week at work, I was frugal and only got CDRom and a NIC for Yog-Software. One of these decades I'll have him up and running. Then we went to Steak and Shake for dinner. Yummy burgers. From there we went and watched weird TV. Went home, geeked a little, read alot and went to bed.

Saturday I went on a 'pseudo-date' with an old friend. She's been havign a rough time, and I wanted to spoil her. So I show up with flowers (always a nice touch) and we go to see Harry Potter III again. We've both seen it, but it was nice to see again. From there we went to a Chinese buffet, then back to her place. No, you nosy people, nothing happened. Just watched half of Blade then I went home to watch TV and burn CD's

Sunday was Midsummer, so I went over to Amythest's to prep. Ritual went well, I wrote it...well, modified it from something found in a book. ;) Before ritual we watched Secondhand Lions, which I suprisingly enjoyed very very much. I may have to get it, even though there were few explosions and no nudity. Went home that night, went to bed early. Now I'm at work, kinda busy...I think my Unix skills are getting noticed, I keep snagging Unix calls and tickets along with my usual Wintendo stuff. Hmm, wonder where this will lead.

Not really, but I did get a Gmail account. Thanks Wes. So now you can email me at malaclypse.the.youngest@gmail.com. Note, I don't plan on checking it much, so if I don't answer, send to the usual places.

Hmm, why did two pinheads appear and start chanting "One of us, one of us." when I signed in...

Survived the Weekend Mon Jun 14 12:28:53 CDT 2004
Mood: Tired Music of the Day: none
Well I survived my weekend. Was pretty good all in all, saw a couple of movies, hung out with friends, and in general did very little. I need to do a post about all the movies I've seen in the last month or so, haven't had any reviews since Shrek II. Maybe later, right now I'm too brainfried. Weee....

Checking in Sun Jun 6 00:03:01 CDT 2004
Mood: sad Music of the Day:
Just to let everyone know I'm alive. I'm still very sad, but thanks to some great friends I haven't had to deal with it alone. Thanks to everyone who's emailed or called, it's appreciated. I'll let everyone know how I'm doing.

Goodbye Trinity Fri Jun 4 23:53:12 CDT 2004
Mood: Grieving Music of the Day: Nightwish - The Kinslayer
Today, my cat Trinity died. I'm not sure what happened, she'd been hiding since she came back from getting outside, I assumed it was stress, but today she started meowing, I went to check on her, when I picked her up she already felt like she was gone except for her breathing and meowing. A few minutes after I picked her up and held her she was gone.

She was the prettiest, and one of the most affectionate and loving cats I've ever known...and I will miss her very much.

Well hurrah, after the nasty storms over the last 2 days, I finally got power again. I have lights, I have AC, I have computers. My Linksys router is flaking out though, so Shub-Internet is plugged directly into the cable modem. When I get home tonight, or tomorrow I'll see if I can get it back to normal. If not, I've been needing to upgrade the router anyway. Maybe I'll set up a Linux firewall. We'll see what I do this weekend. But hurrah for power :)
