Weekend Sun Sep 26 18:44:58 CDT 2004
Mood: Mostly ok Music of the Day: Terminator 3 on TV
Well this weekend has been mostly ok. Friday was ok, met up with some friends and saw Shawn of the Dead. Enjoyable zombie parody, I ended playing 'Spot the reference' to zombie flicks. As we commented, it was like an episode of Coupling with zombies. Fun fun fun. Came home, sacked out.

Woke up Saturday, went to the Texas State Fair with Amythest and Nymaz. Had alot of fun, helped win Amythest a stuffed unicorn, and won myself a stuffed snake/worm/something. Also saw alot of displays, home stuff, cars, the usual for the fair. Walked WAY too much, but had fun. Came back to their place, ate pizza and watched part of Return of the Jedi then headed home. On the way home, car started running a bit warm. By the time I got home, I had a little steam out from the hood. Couldn't tell what was the problem, so I just went inside and went to bed early.

Woke up early today, checked on car. Low coolant, ok...top her off. Get motivated and clean, go visit The Grim Squeaker, and head off to the movies. We went to see Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Good flick, I really enjoyed it. Afterwards I headed home to work on housework...wee fun. Car still getting overwarm, not overheat level, but still warmer than I like. Not sure what's going on, will see what happens this week, see if I can get the car in the shop. *sigh* I wish cars worked better for me...I have the worse luck. But other than that, the weekend was good. Lets hope this next week is good as well.

Cable Modem Annoyances Tue Sep 21 21:50:05 CDT 2004
Mood: tired Music of the Day: None
Well, that was a slow day. My internet connection is via cable with Comcast. Normally it's rock steady and fast. Not today. Today it decided to run about 1k per second, just enough to connect via SSH but email and downloads were dog slow. Now, if I was smart I'd have rebooted the modem when I went to lunch. But no, I just bitched and moaned. Came home, and still running as slow as molasses. So I called Comcast, and the tech said "reboot modem and router". So I did, and now back to 3m per second. Hurrah for broadband. I should have known to just restart the modem, but I've had a long day. Oh well, maybe tomorrow will be better.

Hurrah for the Weekend Thu Sep 16 23:01:58 CDT 2004
Mood: tired Music of the Day: Lacuna Coil - Senzafine
Hurrah for my weekend. 3 days off. Still need to catch up on my sleep, since I'm still feeling exhausted from the begining of this week. Can't sleep in too late, I don't want to completely fubar my sleep schedual like last week. Not much I need to do, some errands to run, maybe a movie or two. Some more apartment rearranging. But mostly, general relaxing and celebrating my raise at work. My dull life :)

Year Review Time Tue Sep 14 16:31:58 CDT 2004
Mood: Happy Music of the Day: Dream Theater - Beyond This Life
Year review time...

The short form, I meet or exceed all expectations of the job I do. The funny part, the director of the support department has you state what you think you do on a scale of 1,2 or 3...1 fails expectations, 2 meets, 3 exceeds. I need to redefine my opinion of my job proformance, most of the time, when I said 2, she said 3.

So woohoo for me, nice merit review (and a nice merit raise). Great way to come back from vacation !!!

Vacation: Days 9 and 10 Sun Sep 12 21:27:23 CDT 2004
Mood: tired Music of the Day: Megas XLR on TV
Well, vacation comes to end. 10 lovely days of rest. Wish I was getting more, but that's a given... Well, since I doubt I'm going to do anything else intresting before bed tonight, here is the final recap of vacation time.

Saturday I was bored, spent alot of time playing Total War: Medieval. Fun game, but it runs kinda twitchy on Yog-Software. But that's what demos are made for. After that, I ran around with Amythest, and met up with some other Ufies to go see Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Now I didn't expect much from the movie, and well...I got what I expected. Violence, zombies, guns, more guns, zombie dogs and yet more guns. It was ok, not great by any stretch of the imagination, but it was fun. Came home, watched TV and zoned out eventually.

I woke up today alot later than I planned. Not cause I had anything to do, but I wanted to get up sorta early so I could sleep tonight. We'll see if it works. I hung around the house, watched Cabin Fever which wasn't all that good. Ok, it stunk on ice. Not much of a plot, no zombies, no rhyme or reason to what was going on. Cute girls, but not enough to make it worth it. Oh well. I can see why it never made the theaters. Oh well. I also watched the season premere of Charmed, which I haven't been watching much of the last 6-8 months. No real reason, just haven't been that up to watching it. But tonight was fun, Rose Mcgowan looks good as a brunette again, though I prefer red. Show was cute/funny as usual, though some of the changes from last season had me very confused. Oh well, gives me a reason to watch Season 6. ;)

That's about it...pondering bed in a little while. Sleep will be nice. Then off to work. Wonder if I can still be a kickbutt tech after being off for 10 days...I think so.

Vacation: Day 8 Sat Sep 11 02:07:10 CDT 2004
Mood: Good Music of the Day: Iron Chef on TV
Today was a good day. Woke up early to meet up with SugarFae for lunch, but after talking it over we decided to meet up after she got out of work. So around 4 I went up to meet her where she works. And got lost. Hey, it's been a long time since I'd been there. Pick her up, head to a local mall to get a late lunch. Bad chinese food, but it was eatable. Did a little shopping, got a suprise for Amythest. Then we headed back to her place, met up with The Grim Squeaker. Watched Mr Squeaker playing Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War, then a few more people showed up to watch Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis, including Techie and a few other D/FW Ufies, including a munchkin. Yes, I was hanging around with a kid. I like kids, just as long as they're not mine. ;) After that, the parents and munchin went home, and the remainders watched Battle Royale which was a very violent and strange movie. But I did enjoy it. I'll probably be dreaming in Japanese tonight though. Doesn't help that I'm watching Iron Chef right now. Oy.

Vacation almost over, 2 more days. So far it's been very good. Not as exciting as it could have been, but at the same time it's been very restful. Lots of reading, lots of watching movies. Lots of plain simple being a couch potato. I also got alot of housework done, all in all I've very glad of this time off, I just hope I can handle going back to the workplace on Monday. Wow, FYI...I've been at the job for 1 year, as of last Wednesday. How time flies. Hope the next year is as good as the last one has been. Ya, some things were very bad...but over all it was a very good year.

Vacation: Days 5, 6, and 7 Fri Sep 10 02:27:28 CDT 2004
Mood: tired Music of the Day: Queensryche - London
Hmm, ok...I've been lax in posting. Haven't done a whole lot this week. Not worked ;) Tuesday and Wednesday evening I spent hanging around with Amythest, during the day I generally was lazy or did a little housework. Some geeking, working on Apache for ATAthoth and Shub-Internet. Nothing fancy, just making the local machines respond to port 80, and configuring it so I can work on websites locally without having to upload to a live server. Went and saw Without a Paddle Wednesday night with Amythest. Very funny movie, alot better than I thought it was going to be. Today I sold off some books to Half Price, I actually have room on my shelves again. Wow. Then hung out with The Grim Squeaker and SugarFae, watching the original Resident Evil in prep for watching the sequel this weekend. Came home, puttered around a bit, did laundry...was going to go to bed early, but I woke up. So I've been hacking around on the laptop. Weeeee. Wish I could get Linux to run right again on this thing, but I guess I'm stuck with Windows 98 for now. Oh well. Maybe I'll try to sleep again. *waves*

    Vacation: Days 2, 3 and 4 Tue Sep 7 00:21:04 CDT 2004
Mood: Good Music of the Day: Suspiria on TV
Well three more vacation days have passed. Saturday I woke up, did some house stuff and as posted, went to check on cats and ferrets at my friends' place. After that, I made my way to the party hosted by my friend Pixie. Only two other people showed, but it was good to see friends. Got to see a little dancing (Pixie and the other gal are bellydancers, I was happy.), then we had fajitas for dinner, then sat down to watch 13th Warrior. Always a fun movie. After that I headed home and vegged out, and eventually passed out.

Sunday I woke up, did more general housework, then headed to AnimeFest in Dallas to hang out with The Grim Squeaker and SugarFae. I only hung around for a while, I didn't feel like coughing up a small fortune to go into the vending or gaming areas, mostly I went to hang out and people watch. A few interesting outfits or people in them. Then I headed home, ate dinner, and moved bookcases and books, now all the books and cases are in my bedroom. I actually have room in my living room again.

Monday I woke up, went over and harrassed The Grim Squeaker and SugarFae again. Ran to Walmart and Target, went to a lake up in Grapevine to wander about for a bit, then back to their place to watch National Geographic. Then I came home. Now I'm sitting here watching Suspiria. Gotta love demented horror movies :) Tomorrow I don't know what trouble I'll get into, all depends on what I'm in the mood for I guess.

    Vacation, Day 1 Sat Sep 4 13:28:54 CDT 2004
Mood: Good Music of the Day: Dokken - The Hunter
Well, so far my vacation has been good. Thursday night I got out of work on time, ran over to my mom's for her bday. I didn't stay long, mom wasn't feeling 100%, but we decided to get together the next day to celebrate. Went home, watched Hellboy, (hurrah for vague Lovecraftian movies) then went to bed fairly early. Woke up Friday, got myself together and clean and such, then went to pick up Mom. Took her to lunch at a new Italian place, it got two New Yorker thumbs up from us. Just basic cheese pizza, but gigantic slices and a very yummy flavor. Not just standard NYC pizza, it had a little extra zip to the sauce that went very well. Yum yum yum. From there, we went to Half Price Books where I got me various history books, and Mom some mystery-type novels she wanted. Then a run to Walmart, then back to her place to unload. Then I headed home, where I started working on housework. Weee.

I was a bad fox on Ebay, but I did obtain a few bits for i my Mythos tome collection, and I kept the spent amount under $20. I also watched a really cheese martial arts flick called A Duel to the Death. Very quesoish, but fun. A yearly duel between the best Japanese martial artist and the best Chinese martial artist. Lots of wirefu, lots of corny lines, lots of fun. Vulpine says go see it. After Wushu-juju, I met up with Techie,, The Grim Squeaker, and SugarFae for dinner at Chili's. Squeaker and Sugarfae are working an Anime con this weekend, with their first shift at something like 2am Friday night, so I wanted a chance to see them before they haven't slept 3 days. After dinner, we headed back to their place and watched TV while SugarFae worked on her costume. About midnight me and Techie left, and I went home to watch more cheezy tv and movies. I had trouble getting to sleep, insomnia plus anxiety = a bad combo. Oh well, I worked though it and went to sleep.

And such ends my first vacation day. Today I've been doing housestuff again, about to go check up a friend's house and kitties, then over to a party tonight. Wee. I'll post again tomorrow with an update. (I see lots of posts about my wild week.) Ciao !
